my new chair!!!

Okay, so my office chair was in need of some loving. it was in pretty bad shape. it was broken and dirty, you couldn't tell if it was blue or grey. so i made a slip cover for it, and i think it looks better. also, kevin fixed the back of my chair, so it's good now!

Before...

Covered, but still broken...

Yay! the final product. i have a functional, girly-looking chair now, with slip covers that i can wash if they they get dirty, wahoo!

kevin's newest sport and activities

Kevin has recently started playing softball again, since he retired after 4th grade....anyways, he plays on an intramural team with one of our friends, Mark. He actually does just fine. He usually plays in the outfield, but here he is batting last night in their last game of the season. they lost, but they fought hard....:).

He got a big hit this time, and ran to first! always a good thing...

running from first to 2nd.

then he ran home and scored a run. i'm so proud of my big slow-pitch softball player!

Okay, so since we have met, kevin has always gotten a kick out of scaring me, especially when he isn't doing it on purpose. But lately, he has been a little stinker, contrary to what my mother thinks is possible (kevin gets away with anything with my parents). The other night he scared me twice in about 4 minutes. the first time, i was looking at my computer, and he crept up for a few seconds behind me and then screamed. i hate being scared, and i always punch him in the arm about 7 times when he does this to me. so i freaked out, and he laughed so hard, so i punched him in the arm, with my ring on. he didn't like that, so i thought he'd stop.

then about 3 minutes later, i got up to put batteries in my camera. we were still talking to each other, but i was facing our wall, and in our house, it sounds like you are close to each other no matter where you are having a conversation. so i didn't realize that kevin had snuck up on me again, but this time he was crouched down like the picture and was just staring at me. i turned around and only saw one of his eyes staring at me, about 6 inches away from me. it scared the heck out of me again, i think i jumped pretty good.

he was pretty proud of himself afterwards....hmmm....little stinker. but i love him anyways.

June 11th 'til now....

So, i haven't written in a while. a few things have happened since then:

1. our first anniversary! wahooooo! we had fun...we stayed home and didn't have to work, so we did things around Provo that we'd never done, or hadn't for awhile. We went to the Nickelcade in Orem, and $4.00 lasted us about an hour and a half. Kevin was in heaven there with all the old Mortal Kombat video games that he used to play on Nintendo. it was fun for me...i beat kevin at a shooting game...first time ever....and at a motorcycle racing game...first time ever. we both got our prizes from the glass boxes....i got a ring that pretty much hurts to put on, and kevin got a little rubbery plastic thing that you push down, and then it pops up. he was pretty excited. then we ate dinner at Red Robin...one of our favorites, and had ice cream at Cold Stone. it was fun.

me at our favorite game that gave us the most tickets out of any other game. you had to hit the dinosaurs as they came out, so we worked together to beat the game. cheating is fun....haha.

2. My friend, Holly, another hall advisor, moved to Arizona with her family. so i made her a cool card...a U-Haul truck with candy inside. then everyone signed the outside. it even had the cheesy neon green, yellow and pink random mural on the side. it was pretty cute, i must say.

3. our camera broke, so no more pictures for now.

4. we went to Seattle....yay!!!!! it was pretty much the coolest thing ever. two of our best friends, crystal and lionel, decided to be random and fly crystal up about 3 hours before we were leaving for the airport. so crystal came up and went on some dates, but they are just friends. we had a lot of fun, and i got to spend some quality time with my parental figures, and with kev's family. it was so great. kev and our dads went golfing and got fried in the sun, and Crystal, my mom and i went shopping and got cheesecake at the Cheesecake factory. we were sad to leave when we came back home, but we'll get to see them again soon. FYI- Seattle is much better than Utah, but we're happy here too.

5. i got to go to OHIO....and surprise my sisters! My mom and i flew out to be with my sisters and nephews in Coloumbus this week, and i didn't tell them i was coming, but they found out by the time i got there. which was okay, since i missed my flight in Chicago to Columbus. yeah, i was sitting at B14 in the airport for 2 hours, and i got in line to get on the plane, and it made a bad honking noise when the man scanned the barcode, instead of the ding. he asked where i was going, and i told him columbus, he said that my plane was 4 gates down and left 20 minutes earlier. (the plane i was about to get on was going to Washington DC). so i started crying and went to the other gate, and slammed my boarding pass on the counter and while crying, said,
"i was at the wrong gate." so the guy was nice, and i got a new boarding pass for the next flight which was an hour later, but ended up being 2 hours delayed. so my 2 hour layover ended up being about 6 hours. but i was fine then. i got some Starbucks hot chocolate. i saw first person i've ever seen puke on an airplane, right in front of me, in the aisle. it took the flight attendants 20 of the 44 minute flight to clean it up. it was pretty nasty.

i had fun in Columbus though. my cute little nephews wore us all out with playing pirates and going swimming all week. but they were so fun. i was "Pirate Emily" all week, and the boys were "captain Jack Sparrow"...they were so cute. us girls had fun too, and it was the first time my mom and my sisters and i had all been together, without the husbands, and it was really fun. i got back last night, and it feels good to be home, but i had a great vacation.
